Makerere University Senate Visit to ISTVS for renewed accreditation of Diploma Programmes
October 10th -11th, 2018
Prepared by: Lucy Wood.
ISTVS and Makerere University have just concluded two days of intensive meetings on the occasion of the renewal of ISTVS’s affiliation and accreditation to Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda.
Having satisfied the conditions of affiliation and accreditation in late 2009, and having undergone frequent and regular quality control checks in the interim, the time came again for the Makerere University Senate to send a specially comprised team of experts to come assess the status of ISTVS, its programmes, staff and facilities.
The team left no stone unturned, inspecting the classrooms, laboratories, amphitheatre, clinics, computer laboratory, library, kitchens, dormitories, sports fields, and more. They held in depth discussions with the Principal, Dean of Studies, Diploma programme Academic staff, Librarian and Educationalist on academic issues, as well as meetings with parents, community representatives, students and alumni to assess their perceptions of ISTVS from a consumer point of view.
Frank and friendly discussions ensued as ISTVS put on display all it has to offer, and highly impressed the Senate team, including the Student Association president challenging a Senate representative at a game of chess.
Makerere University has recently been voted the 5th best university in Africa, underlining the prestige it holds for ISTVS’ association.
