DEAM STUDENT ATTACHMENT REPORT
The student attachment took place from the 1st May to the 20th of June 2016. The main objective of this attachment was as follows:
- To enable students get hands-on experience real-life situation they are expected to work in when they graduate.
- To provide an opportunity for students to apply the principles and techniques theoretically learnt into real-life problem solving situations.
- To provide an opportunity for students and academic staff to interact with the stakeholders and potential employers to appreciate field situations that will also generate information for curricula review and improvement
- To develop student understanding of works ethics, employment demands, responsibilities and opportunities.
Four students under took their field attachment in Burao. The four students are:
- Hamda Mohamed Ahmed Derie
- Abdikadir Mohamed Mohamud
- Mouse Ahmed Mohamed Abdi
- Nour Ahmed Nour
Organization where studenst were attached
The students were attached to Agricultural Development Organization (ADO) in Burao a non-profit organization in Somaliland. It runs various agricultural programmes in Somaliland. These programmes include:
- Agriculture to sustain livelihoods and improve food security.
- Environment to build the capacity of rural communities on environmental stewardship.
- Water sector to improve water sources infrastructure and proper sanitation and hygiene for both human and livestock consumption.

- Health sector to conduct awareness raising activities on HIV/AIDS and FGM.
- Micro-finance Sector to facilitate access to revolving loans to poor women-headed households.
