CAHW Border Inspection Point Training (2nd May to 22nd May 2017)
ISTVS has been contracted to provide the second phase of a three week training for 20 Community Animal Health Workers (CAHW) drawn from following border villages of regions of Somaliland bordering Ethiopia namely, Toon,Qool-Caday,Adam Abokor,Ceelka,Ina Guuxa,Qoolbulaale,Labi Sagala,Cadow Yurura-Aroori,Suryo-Aroori,Kabadhere-Aroori
These villages act as transit points for livestock crossing into Somaliland from Ethiopia and pose a risk for the introduction of tranboundary livestock diseases.
The training commenced on 2nd May and will end on the 22nd May 2017.
Overall objective of the training
To provide the CAHWs from border villages with the skills required to detect zoonotic diseases in livestock at designated border inspection points and thereby play an active role in the prevention and control of the diseases.
Training structure
The training curriculum for the BIP training comprises of five modules which are designed to equip the participants with practical skills and knowledge about general livestock husbandry practices, recognition, control and reporting of trans-boundary animal diseases and treatment of other common animal diseases. Each module consists both practical and theory sessions.
