Brief on the 7th ISTVS Governing Council meeting, 3rd May 2019, Sheikh
The 7th Governing Council meeting was held in Sheikh on the 3rd May 2019. The meeting was attended by four IGAD representatives: Director of Agriculture and Environment Division, Director of Administration and Finance (Mr. Josephat Onyari), the human resource officer (Mr. Antony Kosgei) and a senior accountant, Mr. Youssouf Farah. The founding institution, Terra Nuova was represented by Riccardo, while the accrediting universities (Makerere University, University of Nairobi, and Mekelle University) were represented by the (representatives) of the respective Vice-Chancellors. Also in attendance is the chair of IGAD Partners Forum, two representatives of the private sector (dryland agriculture / natural resource management, livestock, (Mr. Ali Essa and Mohamed Nageye) and the Principal of ISTVS.
The council deliberated on issues pertinent to the smooth operations of the school. Among the key issues discussed included strategy for sustainability of the school, framework for staff development, scholarship policy and adoption of the school motto.
It was recommended by the Governing Council members that the scholarship policy be amended to reflect the Foundation Course scholarships which were introduced at the beginning of the 2018/2019 academic year.
