Brief on the 5th ISTVS Governing Council meeting
The 6th Governing Council meeting was held at ISTVS on 8th November 2016. The meeting was attended by representatives of council from the Makerere University, Mekelle and University of Nairobi, IGAD, Italian Cooperation, ISTVS Principal and three local representatives. It was noted the ISTVS Governing Council meeting was one of the few institutional meetings that are held on a very regular basis.
Among the key issues discussed included progress on approval of ISTVS Strategic Plan (2016-2020), framework for staff development and adoption of a School Moto.
The Governing Council expressed appreciation for the support provided by the various stakeholders. The financial support provided by the EU, DANIDA, and Italian cooperation was highly appreciated. The contribution of the three Universities (Makerere, Mekelle and the University of Nairobi), especially about technical support in the implementation of the accredited programmes, was also highly appreciated. The support towards the school scholarship scheme by private organizations such the Patsy Wood Trust (PWT) was appreciated.
ISTVS management was commended for the progress made during the academic year. The hosting of high profile training by the school in the last 12 months was singled out as one of the indicators of the confidence the international community and partners have in ISTVS.
