Community Farmers Field Training on Agronomy and Agroforestry at ISTVS in Somaliland

Prof. Geoffrey Kironchi, Dr. Oscar K. Koech and Sicily Muchira (University of Nairobi (UoN) and Mr. Kenneth Tembe and Mr. Godfry Anyika (IGAD Sheikh Technical Veterinary School (ISTVS) in Somaliland team conducted Agro-pastoralist community trainings from 26th to 27th March 2019 in Somaliland supported by World Vision through the DFAT funded Australian NGO cooperation Program (ANCP) project. The communities were trained on Good Agricultural Practices including crop pest and disease management using IPM, IWM, seed bulking, crop nursery management, safe use of crop pesticides, soil and water management, agroforestry practices, and plant propagation and seed bulking technologies. The training aimed at increasing farmer’s capacity to sustainably manage their natural resources and increase farm productivity.
